China Makes New Ambassadors For The Protection Of The Environment To Raise Awareness Of The «Green» Problems
On Tuesday evening, China has nominated 10 people to the title «Ambassador to protect the environment». They are setting an example by their conduct struggle with pollution of the environment.
The team nominees include well-known Chinese singers, an ex Chinese Olympic medallist, expert and post-graduate student. Within two years they have made some contribution to the preservation of the the environment. All the participants put forward by the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
«For me, receiving such rank is an honor. And it is not so much because I realize that I have made, but also because I intend to do even more to green China», - said one of the ambassadors, Deng Yaping, who is also a ex Olympic champion China's table tennis but at this point yet vice-director of the Olympic village of BOCOG.
Nomination ceremony, held Tuesday and organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Commerce and the UNO Development Program, coincided with the celebration of Earth Day, linking culture and entertainment, as well as treating the audience to draw attention to climate change.
«It is important for us that we are able to affect all social sectors, as well as individuals, and to involve all in the fight against climate change through a simple change in the accustomed style of life: the absorption of fewer meat or infrequent use of public transport» - Clyde Malik said, UNO Resident-Coordinator and Permanent Representative of the UNO Development Program in China.
China nominiruets people for the title «The Ambassador of the Environment Protection» every two years. Since 2003, this title has been nominated for 20 people who were actively involved in public transactions to protect the environment, making together with the Government proposals for greening areas, as well as performing research raids in environmental problem areas.
